Imagine yourself hiking in Norway
Even though Norway is a long country with mountains, fjords, long valleys and thousand of islands people tend to settle down almost everywhere. This makes most areas populated, but of course sparsely populated. The good things about this is that you easily get access to incredible areas that in other places would have been remote, but still you find great tracks and hikes wherever you go, but only a few places get crowded. These are famous hikes like Trolltunga, Prekestolen or Besseggen.
The Norwegian tourist association have built an amazing network of tracks and cabins where you can basically walk from hut to hut. If you are into that, of course, but you will also find great day hikes everywhere. Even in the capital, Oslo you´ll find great hikes just 10 minutes outside the city centre. Popular areas is in the western parts with fjords and alpine peaks. The southern inland areas with Rondane, Jotunheimen and Norway's highest mountain Galdhøpiggen. The Lofoten Islands are wonderful and also the Helgeland coast.

“Perfect Day Hike
Our Preikestolen hike was on the second day of the winter season and we were so lucky to have a beautiful fine day with no wind. We passed a few people doing the hike unguided but even so, booking with Outdoorlife was a great decision! Johannes and Erlend were excellent as guides, both are very personable, knowledgeable about not only the area but a broad range of topics and they are genuinely interested in their guests. They really made the day stress free with everything from the pickup and ferry being organised through to keeping an appropriate pace and frequent stops for photos and to catch your breath. Their enthusiasm for the area and love of their job really shows and makes a perfect day even better! Absolutely recommended!”
“Guided hike and kayaking
We hired Erlend to take us on a hike up on Mefjellet (1100m). It was just perfect. The route allowed us to enjoy a great panoramic view across the whole area (Sunnmøre Alps, Tafjord). Erlend also provided a yummy lunch with specialties from the region including a delicious vegetarian option, and also one of the best hot chocolates I’ve tasted (drinking from a thermos on a peak up in the mountains definitely added to the flavor...). The kayaking tour the next day was very nice as well even though we didn’t get to spot the eagle that lives in the fjord. Great guiding, Erlend was very helpful, taught us some new things on how to move in a kayak, and the equipment was excellent. I would book Erlend and his company Valldal Naturopplevingar any day again.
