10 Days Safari and Zanzibar

This itinerary showcase world class safari before you go to Zanzibar for deep relaxation and white beaches.

DAY 1:  AIRPORT - ARUSHA

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be picked up by a representative and transferred to Arusha city. Visit coffee plantation and experience the making and planting of coffee, later head to Maasai market for a short tour, later drive to your hotel for overnight

 

DAY 2:  ARUSHA - LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, meet the driver and collect lunch boxes and drive to Lake Manyara National Park for full day game drive at the park. After breakfast, collect lunch boxes and drive to Lake Manyara for full day game drive. Lake Manyara National Park from the entrance gate, you will drive through winding roads into Park’sdense forest like landscape, filled with Acacia woodlands. The Park naturally derives its name from the vast alkaline or Soda-ash Lake, which can be spotted in shimmering spectacular. During your game drive, you will sight several troops of baboon relaxing by the roadside.

Further into your excursion a variety of wildlife will emerge including enormous elephants, graceful giraffes, zebras, bushbucks, dik-dik, wildebeest, buffalos, mongoose, klipspringer and several birdlife. The Park is quite rich in birdlife with approximately 400 species. Along the lake you will view the pink-horned flamingos and other water birds like storks, pelicans and cormorants. Lake Manyara National Park is also famous for its tree-climbing lion, which you may see, particularly in the early mornings. And if you are lucky to view a pride of lions lounging in a tree, it can be an extraordinary exhibition.

DAY 4 : LAKE MANYARA - NGORONGORO

After breakfast, collect lunch boxes and drive to Ngorongoro conservation Area, descend at the Ngorongoro crater for full day crater tour. Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which is located within the Serengeti, is home to approximately 30,000 protected animals. The infinite beauty and grace of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is unique, submerged in deep crater valley and highlands, a soda lake in which thousands wildlife quench their thirst daily. It is at the Ngorongoro that you will relish the wonderful privileged of viewing the Big Five in one location. The Big Five are characteristically imposing, enormous and deadly animals, these include the rare black rhino, big-tusked elephants, black-mane lions, leopards and Lions, which tend to reside at the Ngorongoro. You will also sight buffalos, zebras, hyenas, wildebeest, flamingos, bat eared foxes, jackals, gazelles, cheetah and a high density of birdlife species. The beauty of this place is the lions are not afraid to walk up to your safari vehicles, giving you an authentic Safari experience.

DAY 4 : KARATU - TARANGIRE

After breakfast, driver and collect lunch boxes and drive to Tarangire National Park for full day game drive. Tarangire National Park offers incredible open savannah grassland, immersed with acacia woodland, baobab trees, sausage trees and dense concentration of wildlife. Sighting large herd of elephants is quite common in this park. Wildebeest, zebras, buffalos, gazelles, elands, impala, antelopes, cheetah, leopards, mongoose, tree climbing pythons, lions and oryx can also be seen here. For bird lovers, an estimated 550 colourful bird species may be found here including yellow-collared lovebirds, hornbills, weaver, long-tailed paradise whydah and ostrich among others. Because visitors less frequent this Park, it is not crowded and is thus ideal for those who want to enjoy a serene Safari experience while seizing the authentic sights and sounds in the jungle.

DAY 5 : TARANGIRE - ZANZIBAR

After breakfast, collect lunch boxes and transfer to Seronera airstrip for your schedule flight to Zanzibar at 1000hrs, arrive Zanzibar @ 1430hrs, meet with our representative and transfer to stone town hotel for your overnight at Zanzibar Serena Hotel – standard room

 

DAY 6 : ZANZIBAR STONE TOWN

Breakfast at your hotel. Pick up by your guide for a full day excursion. This is a wonderful introduction to Zanzibar and gives you a feeling of the rich cultural heritage. One gets a comprehensive view, history and walk of the Stone Town, magnificent architecture, narrow alleys, sand and stone ancient built houses where some of them are over 200 years old and have Arab/Indian carved doors. The tour starts at the main City market which was opened in 1904, where tropical fruits, vegetables, spices and fresh fish from the island are sold. Our next stop is the Anglican Church of Christ which was built by Bishop Steers in 1873 on the site where slaves used to be auctioned.

Other highlights on the historical stone town tour are visits to:

• Sultan’s Palace Museum - Built in the late 1890’s for members of the Sultan’s family.
• House of Wonders - Built in 1883 as a Royal Ceremonial Function Palace.
• The Africa House - Formerly the English Club.
• Forodhani Park - Where you can spend your evenings leisurely watching the brilliant sunset while sipping freshly squeezed sugarcane juice or enjoy charcoal barbeques and locally made dishes.

• The Old Fort - Built by Arabs for defense against the Portuguese.

The tour also includes a visit to:

• Kidichi Persian Baths - built in 1850 by Seyyid Said bin Sultan for his Persian wife Princess Sheherezade granddaughter of the Shah of Persia.
• Maruhubi Palace Ruins - built by the third Sultan of Zanzibar Seyyid Barghash for his 99 concubines.
• Dr Livingstone House - built in 1860 for Sultan Majid. Dr David Livingstone lived here before commencing on his last journey to the mainland interior.

 

Later have lunch at the local restaurant at stone town under own arrangement, then proceed with your other excursion. Prison Island or Changuu Island is the middle island of the three visible from the Stone Town. It takes approximately 30 minutes to get there by boat. The prison which was never used on this island was built in 1893, but was later used as a Quarantine Hospital. Apart from the Prison ruins you will also see the enormous giant tortoises which are the main attraction of the island. The tortoises were brought on the island from Seychelles by Sultan Said Majid in the 1820’s. On this little paradise one can also swim, snorkel, sunbathe or just relax on the beach and enjoy the peacefulness that this small beautiful island has to offer.

DAY 7 : ZANZIBAR BEACH HOTEL


After breakfast transfer to beach side hotel. Dinner and overnight
