6 days Uganda Primates Tracking Safari

This Uganda Primates safari is made up of different activities per day as you will be tracking Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest National Park and a game viewing safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park to search for famed Tree-climbing Lions and several big game. 

This is a full Uganda primates package where you will not only be seeing the beautiful Gorillas and the chimpanzees but to the magnificent landscapes of south western Uganda characterized by lush highlands, grassy hills, and crater lakes among others 

DAY 1: ENTEBBE/KAMPALA – BWINDI GORILLA NATIONAL PARK

Pick up from your home or residence/ hotel by your guide who will also be your driver for the entire Uganda Primates trip. You will be the beautiful Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you will use the Masaka-Mbarara highway. A stopover will be made for your lunch and proceed ahead to the National Park. Upon arriving at the National park, you will go straight to you booked accommodation and check in.

 

DAY 2: MOUNTAIN GORILLA TRACKING BWINDI

You will have an early breakfast as you will need to be at the tracking point right before your primate tracking starts. The hotel will have you packed lunch as you will be tracking up to lunch time, immediately after you are done with breakfast you will head for gorilla tracking. Since tracking starts at 8am, you ought to be there at least 30 minutes earlier in time for your briefing before tracking starts. In addition to your parked lunch, you must carry drinking water, rain jacket and jungle boots while the rangers will provide you with a walking stick. 

Gorilla tracking is enriching, rewarding as you walk through the thick rain forest has a lot more to offer than just the Gorilla you see but also the different/ unique vegetation you see, different bird species, among others. With the gorilla activity done, you will head back your hotel/ lodge rest the evening away as you wait for your dinner with overnight.

 

DAY 3: TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH: GAME DRIVE AND LAUNCH CRUISE

You should be ready, prepared and done with your breakfast by 6:45am so that you are on the road to Queen National Park. You will leave Bwindi that early because you will be targeting the morning game drive in the Ishasha sector as you will be looking for the tree climbing lions. After the game drive, you will continue to the park to Mweya Safari Lodge where you will be having your lunch.

After your lunch you will get ready for your 4:15pm launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel. With that, you will retire for your overnight and dinner as well at your booked accommodation.

 

DAY 4: GAME DRIVE AND TRANSFER TO KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

Today very early in the morning, you will wake up to just a cup of coffee and some snacks as you should be out and already on the tracking road for the game drive by 6:30am. The game drive usually takes up to 3 hours as you are exposed to all sorts of wildlife as it was in the evening. Immediately after the game drive, you will head back to the lodge, have you full on breakfast and check out of the hotel.

You will head out of the park and get on the journey to Kibale National Park. The drive will take up to 4 hours, as you get there in time for your check-in and dinner at the booked accommodation.

 

DAY 5: KIBALE NATIONAL PARK –CHIMPANZEE HABITUATION EXPERIENCE (CHEX).

You should have had a debrief from our guide yesterday before going to bed as today you will be waking up very early. You will be having an early breakfast with parked launch as you are supposed to be at Kanyanchu 15 minutes before the activity starts. The Habituation starts at exact 7am because you will be following the Primate from the moment they wake up to the time they prepare to sleep that is 7pm.

That is why you must have your packed lunch as you do not leave the park up to until the chimps are ready to call it a day and this is usually done up to 7pm, latest 7:30pm. This is also an amazing activity for bird watchers because Kibale is one of the National Parks that blessed with a wide variety of different bird species. With that, you will drive back to your accommodation to take a long shower, have dinner and look back to the beautiful pictures you would have taken as the day would have ended.

 

DAY 6: KIBALE NATIONAL PARK AND BACK TO KAMPALA

With some breakfast and a lot of time to spear, you will check out of the lodge as this should see the end of your safari. You will embark on your journey back to Kampala
