4 Days Selous Game Reserve by road

The vast majority of Tanzania’s elephant herds live in one remote stretch of safari wilderness – the Selous Game Reserve. A feature of this Safari is the opportunity to participate in classic style game drives as well as boat and walking Safaris.

Day 1: Dar es Salaam / Selous Game Reserve

You will depart from Dar es Salaam city centre in a 4x4 Safari vehicle to the Selous Game Reserve. Enjoy a late lunch at the Rufiji River Camp. Embark on an afternoon game drive in the reserve, and then return to Rufiji River Camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Selous - Rufiji River Camp

Enjoy a full day game viewing in the Reserve. Participate in some classic – style game drives – exploring the bush in 4x4 vehicles. Waterbuck, southern reedbuck and bushbuck are common in Selous. Rare sable antelope, lion and greater Kudu also frequent this area. You will have your meals and overnight stay at Rufiji River Camp.

Day 3: Selous - Rufiji River Camp

After breakfast, accompanied by an armed ranger on a walking Safari in the Reserve. The sights and sounds (and smells) on a walking Safari are a special treat that will live long in your memory. The thrill of creeping up to animals to “shoot” them close ups with your camera is a great experience. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a boat Safari where you will explore the different channels and lakes of the Rufiji River System, surrounded by hippos and crocodiles. A large variety of herons, storks, ducks, stilts, and other water bird may be seen. And you will also see land mammals such as giraffes and elephants. You will have your meals and overnight stay at Rufiji River Camp.

Day 4: Selous Game Reserve

Enjoy a morning game drive in the Selous Game Reserve. Early lunch will be served at the camp, followed by your departure transfer to Dar es Salaam. Drop off in the city centre.
