2 Days Transylvania On The Map

Treat yourself with this 2 days tour, which will take you to impressive medieval locations, just waiting to unfold their stories. Discover their history, architecture and spirit!

Day 1

Hotel pick up will take place early in the morning, to allocate the necessary time to see all the beautiful places we have planned for the day!

Ranked by many important European newspapers, as one of the most beautiful castles in Europe, we couldn't agree more, as the image of this grand construction unfolds in front of our eyes. The castle is surrounded by a peaceful setting with the Carpathians in the background, gardens on terraces and with an exterior where you can admire a Neo-Renaissance architectural style and a slight Saxon influence. The story of the castle began in 1873, under the supervision of King Carol the 1st and throughout the years, it has been a summer residence, a guest house for famous visitors as Richard Nixon, a museum but it also features in one Hollywood movie, called The Bloom Brothers.

Brasov, our next stop, is a mix of Gothic style, medieval watchtowers, colored cobblestone houses and baroque churches and buildings. Needless to say, the most known of all is Piata Sfatului, where a grand square accommodates both residents, curious tourists, high towers, coquette cafes and restaurants. Before getting lost of the beautiful streets of this medieval city, we encourage you to visit the narrowest of them all, Rope Street, to admire the largest Gothic church in South Eastern Europe, the Black Church and Mount Tampa on which an old Hollyqwood sign stands, displaying the name of this mesmerizing city.

As we approach Bran Castle, we can't help but admire this impressive cliff built stone construction, which was first mentioned, (within this form), back in 1377. It is definitely one of the most picturesque and mysterious castles in Europe and its major transformation took place during Queen Mary's reign. The castle offers spectacular views from the terrace, being located between Bucegi and Piatra Craiului Mountains. As for Count Dracula's legend, we will leave you to find out what is true and what is not...

Our stop, for accommodation and dinner is Sighisoara, which we will visit the next day.

Day 2

With its relationship to the past, Sighisoara is the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler and with its connection to the present, is a UNESCO branded location. While here, get to admire the medieval architecture through the churches and clock towers and reward yourself with a mesmerizing view of the city, after climbing a covered long stairway.

Getting to Biertan, one of the most known Saxon villages in Transylvania and our next stop, feels like going back to original roots, a peaceful state of mind, to a less worried and much simpler life. Walking through the coloured houses feels like adding a memory to very important collection of feelings. The village's impressive fortified church is accessible by a long covered stairway and once up, you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view. At the top of the stairway, there is also a room called the divorce jail, where couples were obliged to stay under the same roof, to see if they could solve their differences.

Authenticity is just one word which best describes Sibiu. One example which, after visiting the city will come in your mind, is that the houses have eyes, as on each roof, a small attic window seems to be watching over the city! It is a pleasure to discover its gems, to get lost on the narrow streets and mark some important places like Piata Mica, Piata Mare, The Bridge of Lies, the Evangelical Church or the Brukenthal Palace

On the way back and depending on weather conditions, we can drive on what Jeremy Clarkson, the TOP GEAR presenter, called "the best road in the world" Transfagarasan.
