Your Ethiopia history tour with the best local companies

Ethiopia’s magnificent history encompasses legend and tradition, mystery and fact, from a powerful and religious ancient civilization. The well -trodden path through Ethiopia’s famous and fascinating  historic places takes you through a scenically magnificent world of fairy -tale  names, such as Lalibela, Gondar, Deber Damo and Bahar Dar.

Several of Ethiopia's more remote areas are excellent for walking safaris, which are offered by several good tour operators in the country. Walking tours, best  planned for the dry season, offer the traveler the opportunity for  awe-inspiring vantage points from which to view many of Ethiopia's natural  wonders, cultural riches and architectural heritage. In Gondar, there are  fairytale castles dating back to the 17th century. In Harar, the visitor can enjoy the incense-flavored mysteries of narrow alleyways and towering minarets.

See a video from the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela

Our next adventure took us to the famous town of Lalibela where we toured the famous rock hewn churches a learned about their history and mystery surrounding them. Teddy’s knowledge of this area also blew us away! Gondar was impressive with its castles and history. Teddy is a skilled historical interpreter it makes the stories come alive!

Belaynew is a fantastic, knowledgeable guide. His love of Lalibela is evident. He is passionate about his City and its people. We got to experience an authentic Ethiopian meal , visit the Saturday market and tour the churches. We participated in meal preparation with Belaynew’s lovely wife which was something I had never experienced before in Ethiopia despite many visits there. I highly recommend a tour with Belaynew.
